Using Humor to Cope

Bark! The Herald Angels Sing Photo by The PackAs adults, we have trained ourselves to take life seriously. After all, we do have responsibilities. We have bills to pay and mouths to feed.

Adults must go to work everyday and deal with what life throws at them. Sometimes our lives as adults can get out of hand.

We try to deal with everything that is coming, but sooner or later something knocks us down.

There are several ways to deal with it: one way is humor.

If you can learn to find the humor in all situations you are going to be not only more positive in your daily life, but also much less stressed.

Laughter is a form of exercise, and that is not a joke. When you laugh you actually burn calories, so if you laugh a 50 times in a day it is like a quick fun 5 minute workout.

Start trying to find humor in one stressful situation every day. After a few days of looking for one event, start looking for two. Pretty soon you will be able to find a humorous aspect for everything in life.

There have been studies done showing the effects of laughter in our health. When we laugh the cortisol in our bodies is lowered. Cortisol is a stress hormone, which has been known to weaken our immune systems. Laughter not only decreases the amount of cortisol, it also shows signs of the hormone interferon-gamma that helps our bodies regulate cell growth and fight viruses.

When you are caught up in a stressful situation it is very easy to become agitated or even angry. It is not easy to find the humor in the situation, but it is worth the effort.

Just step back and think, “What am I going to solve by being angry?” The answer is always nothing. There is never anything solved when a person is angry.

Anger leads to further stress and isolation.

No one wants to be around someone who is angry all the time.

So instead look at the situation, note your feelings of anger, and make a joke about it. Every situation has a bit of humor in it if you look closely enough.

We are put through stressful situations everyday, no matter who we are. If we learn to turn the situation around and make it funny, everyone will feel better.

This is not to say that life is one big joke, but maybe it should be treated as such, at least some of the time.

Remember what it was like to be a young child? Children are innocent and happy. They have no worries or cares and they find some of the oddest things funny.

As adults we do not always understand their humor, but maybe we should try a little harder to.

By using humor to cope with difficult situations we can lighten our stress and enjoy life a little more.

If You Want to Attain Success, Try to be Different

Last day in Paris
Do you know how lemmings behave? They move in groups; they follow the pack.

Don’t you feel that people are like lemmings?  Many stay at the sideline waiting for brave souls to go in first. If they smell success, they jump in and join. Many wanted only to follow the direction that the crowd takes, rather than dare to trek the road less traveled.

Successful people are usually the first in the field. They are not crowd followers but crowd leaders. By the time other people join in the ship, these crowd leaders have either become leaders of the field or have moved on to different pursuits.

Being the first in the field, many successful people employ unorthodox, eccentric, unconventional ways and ‘out of the ordinary’ actions. Their actions are often times hailed as innovative and creative, for they were the first to think about them. These people are so determined to make it to the top that they push themselves to think out of the box to address seemingly insurmountable difficulties so that they may be able to overcome obstacles.

You don’t need always to be conventional. It is okay to try out uncommon approaches to solve a problem as long as these are within legal, moral and ethical rules, and as long as no one gets hurt in the process. Oftentimes, people judge pioneers harshly; other people perceive them as going nuts and losing their marbles for pursuing a different approach.

Remember the story about Noah’s Ark? A man named Noah heeded God’s call to build a boat in preparation for the forthcoming great flood. Everybody laughed at Noah. They thought he was nuts. Noah maybe was nuts but the boat he and his family built saved their lives and animals from the great flood.

The same thing is true when it comes to the attainment of your goal. If you want to achieve success in life, try to be different. When was the last time you acted differently in pursuit of something you want? At times, it may be true that problems require unconventional solutions. Would you hesitate to be unconventional for fear of being an object of ridicule, even if your goal to success is on the line? The answer lies within you.

Success comes to those who are daring and willing to take calculated risks. A word of clarification regarding risk takers: we are NOT referring to those who do bungee jumping, jumping out of airplanes, daredevil maneuvers, etc.

Successful people take CALCULATED risks as they pursue different approaches. They have gone through all the choices and painstakingly studied all details before deciding on the best option. Decisions are not based on tossed coins, for this is not a game of heads or tails.

If you will analyze it, acting unconventionally requires more brain activity than just going with the trend. For one, you have to scrutinize all possible alternatives, whereas merely following is just like copying what the others have previously done. Less mental activity is required when you just follow others.

So, how do you assess yourself?  Are you a lemming or a risk taker?  Do you follow the crowd or dare to be different?  Do you take the conventional path or the road less traveled?

Vibrations And Attraction

vibrations and attraction
Is it true, everything that vibrates at the frequency, we are in tune with the reality of the same vibration?

How many of you believe that we are made of energy and we are vibrational beings .. when we think about something, we control our vibrations and we control what we attract into our lives …. Law of Attraction.

That is absolutely correct. Your vibration energy at a given time will attract the same kind of energy to you. Your vibration will change with your thoughts, words and moods. Your vibration is higher during meditation and other activities that make you happy, like listening to music.

When you are angry, in bad mood or thinking for something bad, your vibrations are very low. We are transmitting those vibrations up to 30 meters (100 feet). Other people in this range feel those vibrations. So, when you are in low vibrations you will attract to you only people with the same low vibrations, or you will attract bad things to happen to you.

For example, if you think all the time for your problems, you will attract more problems to come to you. Watching news on TV is perfect to put you in state of low vibrations because most news are bad information.

Purposely Governments and Corporations are scaring people all the time. It is very easy to control and manipulate people when they are scared and panic stricken. When you are scared, you are in low vibrations state.

Elmer Davis once said: “The first and greatest commandment is – Don’t let them scare you”.

True Success – Latest Reflections On True Success

success

True success cannot be specifically defined for the masses because success can be defined quite differently by each individual. True success is subject to individual interpretation based on upbringing, past experiences, role models, personal motivations and goals.

Your view of true success will change at various times and with certain experiences throughout your life. For example, what might be deemed successful in college or on your first job is very different from successfully raising a family or comfortably retiring in the Bahamas. Accumulating a certain amount of wealth is one measure, but a successful marriage may be far more meaningful to many people.

Most people who achieve true success first define it then plan for it; they set a goal to achieve it. Once they define what it means to achieve true success, the next step is to set goals that will lead a person to his definition of success. Many people believe that true success is measured by the size of a bank account or a wall full of diplomas. But there is more to being successful than becoming a millionaire, achieving social status, or collecting degrees, certificates, or accolades.

Many people have been pursuing success for years and years. Others start towards it and seem to find it almost immediately. Success to most people occurs when they have an ongoing string of accomplishments. When put together, these accomplishments add up to a major obtainment in life known as Success. It is why some people explode out of the gates and create success easily, while others struggle all their life.

True success is almost a magical idea for a lot of people. Something born out of a fairytale. On the contrary, true success should be a realistic goal to reach if you take the correct pathway. Your initial pathway might consist of the following:

1. Create a realistic goal and have viable plans to achieve this goal.

2. List all the obstacles standing between you and the goal.

3. Take each obstacle one at a time.

4. Write one or more ways the obstacle could be overcome.

But these steps are just the beginning!

By simply taking these early steps, you will begin to realize that success is a process and not something accomplished with the wave of a magical wand.

True success is generous in nature. Those who allow their abundance to pile up and bring them a sense of false security will never find true success. But those who use their abundance to increase not only the joy in their lives but also in the lives of others by being generous are true success stories. I believe that the truly successful, those who will change the lives of others and leave a legacy, are the ones who are generous with their abundance. This is the hallmark of a truly successful person in life.

Success to most people is when you have an ongoing string of accomplishments- perhaps after many failures. When you put your accomplishments together, they add up to a major obtainment in life known as Success. As Winston Churchill once said, “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.”

Follow your plan, be flexible, and enjoy the ride to finding your goal of true success. Avoid the obstacles that might land in your pathway by following a proven step-by-step plan. Stick to the plan and persevere and I guarantee your destination of true success is just around the next corner of life!

The Importance of A Proper Handshake When Doing Business

customer-loyalty_retention.jpg
Very few people realize the importance of a proper handshake when doing business. More importantly when you meet someone for the first time and have to make a good first impression to close a favorable business deal.

Do you know what your handshake say about you? Do you realize that you have about 5 to 7 seconds while shaking hands that can make or break that business relationship?

It is typical expected from men to have a firm strong handshake, but with women filling more and more executive positions, a firm handshake represents a strong and influential type of person.

There are much more in a handshake than what you may think. Let us take a look at what type of handshake represent what type of opinion. This will certainly help you in your approach towards new business associates.

I Want to Be In Charge

When you extend your hand to shake hands and your hands engage he will deliberately maneuver his hand to be on top of your hand. This is a clear indication that this person is used to be in charge and he is disclosing this fact to you by taking control over the handshake. It is likely that you will notice this as your communication continue.

Slot in Handshake

This is regarded as a very personal type of handshake and is only to be used with people you know really well.

The Slot In handshake is done when you shake hands as normal, but with the exception that you enfold the shake with both your hands, slotting in the other person’s hand in both your hands.

This is a sign of entering the other person’s private space and is a sign of poor business etiquette, especially if you meet the person for the first time.

Wet Fish Shake

The best way to describe this type of handshake is holding a wet scaly fish in your hand. The most common reason why this “wet fish” end up in your hand is because the person either hold a cold beverage in his hand or he is drop dead nervous and his hands are sweating.

If you are one of those people who have this problem of sweating hands, rather wipe your hand on a napkin or even on your clothing if you have to, but dry your hands before you shake another person’s hand. It is particularly unbearable to the person receiving the handshake.

Wilted Fingers

It is commonly found that women only stretch out their fingers to be greeted with a handshake rather than presenting their whole hand. Men often do not realize that their firm grip may hurt a lady if she is greeted with a grip in full force. This is often the reason why men tend to greet ladies with wilted fingers. Frankly this becomes a difficult balancing act. When a professional lady is greeted with such a weak grip they usually regard it as a sign of weakness and lack of interest! Surely not the way you want to present yourself.

The best way to master this “balancing act” is to extend you whole hand in a horizontal manner to greet and not only present your fingers by curving your hand. Now you keep the “lady” part in mind and just close your grip moderately.

Important Elements to Remember

—      Always take hold of the other person’s hand in a firm way.

—      Never shake hands more than three times with a placid technique.

—      Keep eye contact with the person you are greeting constantly.

—      Exude a positive appearance.
